Terms of Use for the Moy Gertsen app
1. What these terms are
These are the terms on which you use the Moy Gertsen app. By installing and opening the app you agree to them. If they do not suit you, do not use the app; you can delete it at any time without telling anyone.
The app is free. The developer is a private individual, not a company.
2. The app is not official
Moy Gertsen is an independent student project. Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia did not build this app, does not review how it works and is not responsible for it. The app only displays data the university publishes in its own services: schedules, information about teachers, Moodle courses.
The university's names, logos and trade marks belong to the university and are used only to make clear which university is meant.
3. Schedules and other data are provided "as is"
The app shows the university's data unchanged and does not guarantee that it is accurate or up to date. Schedules are changed at the university, and the app learns of a change only once it appears in the university's services.
The university itself is the official source of the schedule. If something important depends on it — an exam, a test, a meeting — check it in the official sources. The developer is not responsible for a missed or disrupted class, for being late, or for any other consequence of the data turning out to be inaccurate, outdated or unavailable.
The same goes for the campus map: it was drawn by hand, it may contain mistakes, and a route on it is a hint, not an instruction.
4. What you may and may not do
You may use the app for your studies: look at your own schedule and at teachers' schedules, find rooms, work with your own Moodle courses.
You may not:
- interfere with the app or the server: send automated or bulk requests, harvest
- try to reach other people's data, our admin panel, or the server;
- impersonate another person, a teacher or a member of university staff;
- use the app to break university rules or the law;
- modify the app and distribute modified versions as if they were the original.
data, or try to get around rate limits;
If these rules are broken, access to server features (notifications, announcements, feedback) may be restricted.
5. Your Moodle account
Signing in to Moodle is optional; the app works without it.
By entering your username and password you instruct the app to contact Moodle on your behalf. The password goes straight to the university's server and is not saved anywhere; the app keeps only the access token issued by Moodle on your device. The details are in the privacy policy.
Use only your own account. Keeping your password safe is your responsibility; if you suspect someone else has it, change it in Moodle and sign out of Moodle in the app.
6. Feedback and announcements
By sending a message through the feedback form you allow us to read it and use it to fix the app. Please:
- do not send other people's personal data or passwords;
- do not send abuse or unlawful material;
- check the screenshot before sending — something private may be on it.
The announcements the app sometimes shows above the schedule are sent by the developer. They concern the app's operation and university news; their cards can be switched off in the settings.
7. Intellectual property and third-party components
The app, its source code, interface, icon and name belong to the developer.
The app uses third-party components owned by their respective holders:
- OpenStreetMap — map data, ODbL licence, "© OpenStreetMap contributors";
- the Noto Sans typeface — SIL Open Font License 1.1.
Schedule data, information about teachers and course materials belong to the university and to their authors.
8. No warranties, and limitation of liability
The app is provided "as is". The developer does not promise that it will work without errors or interruptions, that the server will always be available, or that notifications will always arrive.
To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for losses or other consequences of using the app, including inaccurate data, the service being unavailable, the loss of schedule copies stored on the device, and assignments submitted late.
The app may be changed, suspended or discontinued at any time. If the server is to be shut down, we will try to say so in the app in advance.
9. Changes to these terms
A new version of these terms is published at m3tra.com/terms with a new effective date. We will announce significant changes in the app. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the new version.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Russian Federation. We try to settle disputes by correspondence first: write to privacy@m3tra.com. If that fails, the dispute is resolved under the rules established by the legislation of the Russian Federation.
11. Developer details
The app's developer is Artem Lysunets, a private individual, St Petersburg.
